KAITHAL: Four days after two doctors, who promised male child to pregnant women, succeeded in fleeing from the spot when a joint team of health department and police raided their clinics in two villages of Kaithal district, both accused were yet to be arrested. Police could not trace the accused identified as Bijender and Tejbir after conducting raids in the area.
Following a tip-off, raids were conducted in Serhadha and Bir Bangra villages at two clinic being run from homes. "As the team constituted by Kaithal deputy commissioner K M Pandurang raided clinics on June 27 night, both doctors gave it a slip," said sources.
Sources said, "Authorities had sent an auxiliary nurse and midwifery (ANM) worker to one of the doctors as a decoy. As the decoy expressed her wish for a male child, the doctor agreed to treat her and brought an injection to start the process." "We have registered FIRs in two different cases. Owners of both clinics are at large. In Serhadha, we nabbed one Sanju who was assisting the clinic owner. The doctor's education qualification could not be confirmed. The other doctor claimed to be a registered medical practitioner (RMP) degree holder but its authenticity will be checked," Rajund SHO Subhash Sheokand told TOI.
